Tripitz scored a timely win for his sale bound half sister when he edged out Spechenka and Bold Distinction in a thrilling Wicked Energy Drink Handicap (2100m) at Doomben on Saturday.
A son of Iglesia, Tripitz has turned into a great moneyspinner for connections after being purchased for $105,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
He is now the winner of seven races and earner of over $236,000. And he’s now in career best form with plenty more in store.
Prepared at Toowoomba by Mark Webb, Tripitz got up under top Brisbane apprentice Michael Hellyer to win by a nose. There was another nose back to the third placegetter.
A former outstanding juvenile, Tripitz burst onto the scene when he flew home in the Group One TJ Smith when he beat all but Apercu.
Since being stepped up in ground by Webb, Tripitz has confirmed his class as one of the better staying prospects in Queensland.
The win was welcomed by the team from Grange Thoroughbreds in Victoria who have his half sister by Chateau Istana set to go under the hammer at the upcoming Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale.
The filly is catalogued as lot number 210 and she will go under the hammer on the second day of the popular Gold Coast based auction.
She is the latest yearling from the good producing Semipalatinsk mare Forever Glory – a half sister to the Doomben Slipper placegetter Brave Hawk.
A winner at 1600 metres, Forever Glory is also the dam of the outstanding Malaysian and Singapore galloper Ninetyfive Seal – a winner of seven races from 1200 to 1600 metres.
Grange Thoroughbreds have five lots heading to the sale – the other youngsters are by Ferocity, Reset and Sequalo.
The 2010 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale will be held in just over a week’s time on March 21 and 22 at the Gold Coast.
Meanwhile, Monashee Dancer kicked away the card in style for Magic Millions graduates when he led throughout in the Kids Hospital Appeal Handicap (1010m).
A son of Monashee Mountain, Monashee Dancer led throughout under Jim Byrne to beat Buckmoore by a long neck, while the winner’s full brother Sir Monashee was third.
The winner, who is prepared at Deagon by Darren Bell, has now won over $186,000 – not bad considering he cost $70,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
