A lovely colt by Testa Rossa topped the first session of the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale at Morphettville tonight.
A member of the Baramul Stud draft and catalogued as lot 14, the chestnut colt attracted plenty of interest and was purchased for $100,000 by leading local trainer David Jolly.
The colt is the second foal of an unraced Redoute’s Choice full sister to multiple Group One winner and Cox Plate runner-up Lotteria.
Jolly has tasted great success with graduates from the Adelaide sale over the year and there is every chance this colt could be his next star.
A Time Thief colt, catalogued as lot 61 for Robyn Wise, also sold well. He was knocked down to Singapore based Premier Racing Partnerships for $90,000.
The colt is a half brother to two winners and his third dam is the record breaking Group One winning mare Heat of the Moment.
The top price for a filly came with the final lot of tonight’s session – lot 80, Little Hills Pastoral’s Magic Albert filly from Autumn Dash.
After a fierce sale ring battle with Perth’s champion trainer Neville Parnham it was Queensland based bloodstock agent John Foote who came out on top with an $85,000 bid.
The cracking filly is the first foal of the winning Dash for Cash mare Autumn Dash – a half sister to the record breaking juvenile Fappiano’s Son – another bred from the same Yorketown property.
During tonight’s first session almost $2 million changed hands on 58 lots sold at an average price of almost $34,000. The clearance rate was 76.3 per cent.
“It’s been a very good start to the sale,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said.
“Business is being conducted and we have a very good opening session clearance rate.”
“The vendors have been realistic and the buyers have participated in some spirited bidding during the night.”
“We look forward to the second session at 10am (SA time) tomorrow with a great line up of yearlings on offer,” Cox added.
