Value hunters were out in force on the Gold Coast today as the 2010 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale came to a close with a general session.
Some $493,550 changed hands on 161 lots at an average price of over $3,000 with an impressive clearance rate of 82 per cent.
The sale gross and clearance rate were both up on last year’s corresponding sale.
The top price for the day came with the very first lot in the ring – Lot 1383, Jellylorum.
A Sydney winning daughter of Tale of the Cat, Jellylorum was offered by Dynamic Syndications and purchased by Henry Field’s Newgate Farm and Bloodstock Services.
A four-year-old mare, Jellylorum is a half sister to the Queensland Derby placegetter Set Up and is from the famous “Heights” family.
International buyers continued their National Sale buying spree by signing for dozens of lots.
As well as most states of Australia, the buyers were from New Zealand, Hong Kong and the Philippines.
“There was some good competition around the ring today – with plenty of lots proving popular with buyers with an eye for value,” Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester said.
“It’s been a successful National Sale to date and today was well received by buyers.”
“There’s no doubt those who bought during the day will be back again next year,” he added.
The selling action at the Bundall sales complex will resume on Sunday at 10am (Qld time) when the first session of the National Yearling Sale is conducted.
“We have our best ever catalogue assembled for this sale – the last major chance for buyers to secure a quality yearling this year and one eligible for the $5.15 million Magic Millions Race Series,” Chester summed up.
