The 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale continued today with quality lots attracting strong interest from a top line up of buyers.

A Redoute’s Choice three quarter brother to Group One winning sire Casino Prince topped the day’s proceedings when he sold for $625,000.

New South Wales based agent Rick Connolly signed for the well bred youngster who was offered by Baramul Stud.

“He is a brother to Casino Prince and from my involvement with Patinack Farm and seeing what Casino Prince is as a type he is all that and he could be a little bit better,” Connolly said.

“He is an outstanding horse, lovely mover and what a pedigree.”

Another popular youngster today was the first foal of former crack juvenile Mirror Mirror – a filly by Redoute’s Choice.

Gai Waterhouse held the bid when the hammer fell at $500,000.

“She’s the filly of the sale,” Waterhouse said. “She had a lovely hindquarter and she’s a real Redoute’s Choice.”

“I bought her on spec – but already a number of stable clients are showing interest in buying a share.”

There was no surprise when Hall of Fame horseman Lee Freedman paid $460,000 for the Exceed and Excel colt from his former gun sprinting mare Miss Andretti.

As it stands some 275 yearlings have been sold over the past two days at an average price of over $127,000.

The sale gross from the first two session has climbed to almost $35 million and the clearance rate continues to rise and sits at over 77.2 per cent.

Magic Millions Managing Director Stephen Silk said the sale was continuing in good style.

“We’ve had another solid session of selling today,” Silk said. “Quality yearlings attracted strong interest.”

“It is encouraging to see the clearance rate grow and we’re hoping that continues to improve tomorrow and on Saturday night.”

“There’s no doubt buyers are getting some exceptional value across all levels of the market,” he added.

The third session of the sale will commence at 11am (Qld time) tomorrow.
