So AnywaySo Anyway sent her residual value soaring and enhanced one of the finest families of the Australian Studbook when she scored a fighting win in the listed Dark Jewel Classic (1400m) at Scone today.

Benefiting from a perfect ground saving ride from Peter Robl, So Anyway was able to shoot through on the inside fence and set up a winning break before the National Sale bound Purrpurrlena charged from the back of the field.

And while the runner-up turned in the run of the race to just miss, it was So Anyway’s day and the team from Patinack Farm were thrilled.

The three-year-old daughter of General Nediym was purchased by Patinack Farm from the draft of Rheinwood Pastoral for $200,000 at the 2008 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

With the win the filly’s prize earnings have shot to $338,650. Also shooting up was her future value as a broodmare.

Trainer John Thompson said the filly had deserved today’s breakthrough stakes success after a string of excellent runs with no luck.

Prior to her win she had run in the first five in no fewer than nine stakes races – including a fifth placing in the Golden Slipper last year.

“He never went around a horse – 11 out of 10 for the ride,” Thompson commented. “She’s had a run of black lucky, but she deserves that.”

Peter RoblWinning rider Peter Robl was delighted with the win – saying everything went to plan during the race.

“She needs everything to go her way and from the one draw today everything worked out perfectly,” Robl told Sky Channel.

“She showed a lot of courage (over) the last 100 (metres) to hold on,” he added.

So Anyway ($13) edged out the unlucky and fast finishing Purrpurrlena ($15) to win by a long neck.

Another half head back in third pace was Melpomene ($9).

The favourite Renaissance ($3.20), a stablemate of the third placegetter,

So Anyway is from the sensationally related Flying Spur mare Addictive.

Raced on only one occasion, Addictive is a daughter of the former top Perth racemare, turned grand producer Rich Haul.

An earner of over $100,000 on the track, Rich Haul is these days best known as the dam of the stakes performers The Heavyweight, Happy Strike (Lisboa Stand in Macau), Zedrich, Born Western, Danarich and Little Doutes.

Another of her daughters, the Melbourne winner Markka, is the dam of this season’s stakes performed juvenile Flokkati.

Rich Haul is from the dual Perth stakes winning juvenile Born Rich and is therefore a half sister to Karrakatta Plate winner Born Priceless.

Other members of the family are recent Group One winner Rostova, New Zealand sprint star Imananabaa, Singapore champ Trigger Express and this season’s Pinjarra Cup winner Simply Adorable.
