Magic Millions graduates continued their outstanding run of success in Singapore with seven winners at Kranji today.
The septet of winners followed on from Friday night’s meeting when Magic Millions graduates led by Rocket Man ran first and second in the Group Three Garden City Trophy.
Sunday’s streak kicked away in the opening race when Shen Kim cruised home under Vlad Duric to win by a length and a quarter.
A $29,000 National Yearling Sale purchase, Shen Kim is prepared by Sam Chua and is a son of Spinning World.
“He’s had his share of problems but he seems to have overcome them,” Chua said.
“After his debut run in February he fractured his hind leg and we gave him time to rest and recover for a while.”
Street Legal made it two from three for Magic Millions graduates when he overcame traffic to win the third race.
With Ronnie Stewart up, the John Meagher trained son of Street Cry got up to win in great style.
Street Legal was purchased for $75,000 from the draft of Oakwood Farm at the 2007 National Horses in Training Sale.
“He’s only lightly raced and we will take him one step at a time,” Meagher said. “He definitely can stay.”
Merlin continued the streak when successful in the next race for the combination of jockey Danny Beasley and trainer Dr Yoeh.
A $100,000 Gold Coast Yearling Sale purchase from the draft of Mill Park Stud, Merlin cruised home to win by two and a half lengths.
He is the second winner produced by the group winning Amen Brother mare Spice Doll – a half sister to former top stayer Oxford Dollar.
Blackfriars galloper Agent of Speed made his trip to the winner’s stall when he scored a length and three quarter win in the sixth event.
A $7,500 Perth Winter Thoroughbred Sale purchase, Agent of Speed is trained by Mok Zhan Lun and was ridden to success by Adam Fiezan.
“The owner (Paiza) is one of my biggest supports at the stable now,” Mok said. “They bought this one themselves and I must say he’s a pretty nice horse.”
“He will surely improve from that run,” he added.
Benji’s Glory gave Singapore’s leading trainer Steven Burridge win number 80 when the son of Untouchable beat out stablemate Happiness Come in race seven.
An Attunga Stud graduate from the 2008 National Horses in Training Sale, Benji’s Glory responded under the urgings of Joao Moreira to win by a head.
“He just pulled up so well after his win last time that I decided to press on with him,” Burridge said of Benji’s Glory.
“I own a share in him and being the boss he will now go for a spell.”
Risky Business made it six wins for Magic Millions graduates when a runaway three length winner in his 2000 metre contest.
Another member of the Steven Burridge stable, Risky Business was purchased for $90,000 from the 2006 Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
“His last run was very good,” Burridge said while suggesting he would be given his chance in the Group One $1.35 million Singapore Gold Cup.
“We’ll probably head that way with him now. He should get into the race on the minimum and he gives every indication he will run the trip.”
Raced by the Results Stable, the six-year-old son of Danehill Dancer has earned over $500,000.
The massive seven win haul was completed when Model Citizen won the last race giving Vlad Duric four winners for the card.
The gelding by Honours List, a graduate of the 2007 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, is trained by top Kranji horseman Brian Dean.
Model Citizen, who won by a half length, is one of three winners produced by the Clay Hero mare Clay Model – a half sister to the Group One Kelt Capital Stakes winner Just Call Me Sir.
