The upcoming Magic Millions Racehorse Sale at the Gold Coast has received a number of important boosts over recent days.
The draft from the Williams Racing Stable in Melbourne was the subject of three updates – two winners and a stakes placegetter at their most recent starts.
Leading and Maling were both impressive winners at Echuca under Nicholas Hall on New Year’s Eve.
Leading, a three-year-old son of Savabeel, couldn’t have been more impressive on debut when successful over 1200 metres.
Sent out the well backed favourite, Leading came from eighth at the 400 metre mark to get up and win by an increasing long neck margin.
Later on the same card it was the turn of stablemate Maling to score a strong victory in his 1600 metre contest.
The Redoute’s Choice gelding sat fourth throughout before quickening strongly in the straight and racing away for a length and a half victory.
Maling is the winner of two of his five runs. He won his previous race on Randwick’s Kensington track in May.
Another Gold Coast Racehorse Sale boung galloper from the stable, the quality stayer Irel, earned his first bit of black type when a strong third in the listed Bagot Handicap on New Year’s Day at Flemington.
A son of Istidaad, Irel has raced on 13 occasions for four wins and three minor placings and earnings of over $80,000.
Irel is a winner at Sandown kicked away his career in New Zealand and he’s missed a cheque just once in Australia.
The three in form gallopers are in the 31 horse draft from the Williams stable heading to the Magic Millions Racehorse Sale on January 18.
Meanwhile, another sale bound galloper Gideon was an impressive winner at Cranbourne on January 2.
A member of the powerful Darley operation, Gideon sat off the speed and came with a strong run inder Dean Yendall to win by an easy length and a half margin.
The son of Commands has raced on just four occasions and looks a bright prospect for the future.
