Profound Wisdom Tops Adelaide May Sale

Well bred mare Profound Wisdom topped today’s Magic Millions Adelaide May Yearling and Bloodstock Sale at Morphettville.

A two time winner by Al Samer, Profound Wisdom is a half sister to the current Japanese group winner Melagrana and she attracted strong interest from bidders from around the country before selling to Lacoste Bloodstock for $78,000.

The city winning six-year-old will most likely head to stud this spring with future sires now being considered for the mare from the family of Shaftesbury Avenue and Fat Al.

Another breeding prospect to sell well was the classy eight time winner Zerprise Journey (Good Journey).

A winner of over $200,000 on the track for the Mick Huxtable stable, Zerprise Journey was also knocked down to Lacoste Bloodstock for $35,000.

A yearling half brother to yesterday’s impressive Flemington juvenile winner Booker remains on the market and is the subject to negotiations after being passed in shy of his $50,000 reserve.

The colt is by Helmet and like all yearling offered today is eligible to be paid up for the $11 million plus Magic Millions Race Series.

“Today showed that if we get quality bloodstock the market will respond,” Magic Millions Adelaide Consultant Adrian Hancock said.

“We were incredibly busy with phone bidding as well as those in attendance and after today’s inaugural sale we’d like to establish this May sale into the future.”
