One More Minute enhanced his repuation as one of the more promising three-year-olds in Singapore when he demolished his Novice class rivals at Kranji tonight.
An Australian bred son of Iglesia, One More Minute is trained by Steven Burridge and was the third winner from five races for pin-up jockey Joao Moreira.
Burridge has a tidy opinion of One More Minute – who is now the winner of two of his three runs. He was beaten a breath in the other.
“He’s a nice horse and he will go through his grades nicely,” Burridge said. “We might look at some nicer races for him later in the year.”
“You can’t do anymore than he’s done so far and he was unlucky the other day (when second).”
“You couldn’t blame the rider. He just needed another stride,” Burridge added.
“He did a good job tonight. He showed speed but then settled well and he sprinted nicely in the straight.”
“He’s still a bit green and has a few things to learn – so he should still keep on improving,” Burridge summed up.
In the end One More Minute almost won by a minute – five lengths between him and his nearest rival Daring Junior.
One More Minute was sold twice by Magic Millions – once as a weanling, for $14,000, and then as a yearling, for $42,000.
The Eureka Stud graduate was initially purchased by Adelaide based agent David Bridgland from the National Weanling Sale for South Australian client John Thompson.
He was then sold through Thompson’s Kirkliston Stud draft at the 2009 Adelaide Yearling Sale where he was purchased by Queensland bloodstock agent John Foote.
By former leading Oaklands Stud based sire Iglesia, One More Minute hails from one of Queensland’s most famous thoroughbred families.
He is one of two winners for the 100 per cent winner getter Just a Tick – a six time winning daughter of Semipalatinsk who is a full sister to the AJC Oaks winner Just Now.
That is therefore the family of outstanding gallopers including Shiva’s Revenge, Telltina, Tellson, Scenic Warrior, Little Pattie, Fifteen Carat, Bernalla, Close Your Eyes and Stanzaic.
