As we approach the final ten day countdown until the running of the $2m Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Saturday 9 January, the excitement builds for the female connections of Racing Women registered two-year-olds.
As well as the leading Racing Women prizemoney earner Zelady’s Night Out, also in contention for the $500,000 Racing Women’s Bonus are two Sydney trained raiders. The Matthew Smith trained Faraway Town, owned by a group of eight ladies led by Christine Cook and the Paul Perry trained Conchita, raced by Louise Gillard and Cassandra Perry, which won a trial a few days ago by almost five lengths, are the likely competitors for the ground-breaking $500,000 Bonus.
The David Hayes trained Highland Beat is on the cusp of gaining a start in the race and sits at 17th in the current order of entry following a gallant second placing at Randwick on Boxing Day.
We are pleased to announce our Magic Millions Racing Women Patron, Zara Phillips MBE, will again be in attendance to make the presentation to the winner of the 2016 Racing Women’s Bonus. The Bonus is distributed to the first four horses past the post which are 100% owned or leased by women.
