Before the sale ring action is set alight in Adelaide next Monday evening, the next race in the national $11.34 million Magic Millions Race Series takes place at Morphettville racecourse. The running of the 2016 edition of the Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic is one of the features on Monday’s nine race Adelaide Cup day program.
Won in the past by the likes of Augusta Proud and Toorak Toff, this year the Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic becomes South Australia’s richest race for juveniles worth $200,000 in prizemoney.
An intriguing field of ten two-year-olds will contest the prestigious race which includes She’s Positive, a last start runner up in the Listed Cinderella Stakes. The Tony Noonan trained daughter of Sepoy will be lining up in her second Magic Millions Race following her debut third in the Magic Millions Ballarat Clockwise Classic last November.
Also a last start stakes placegetter of the Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes, Hussy’s Glow, will be attempting to emulate the feat of last year’s winner Atalanta Miss for the Patrick Payne-Prime Thoroughbreds combination.
One of three two-year-olds in the field to have already notched up a win, is the David Hayes trained colt Dam Ready. The son of More Than Ready, sold for $72,000 at the 2015 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, was a dominant winner at Moonee Valley last month following his debut fourth in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes behind subsequent Blue Diamond victor Extreme Choice.
Another key runner is the locally trained Bullion Wolf, who has already amassed more than $65,000 in prizemoney in five starts. The promising record of the Lloyd Kennewell trained charge includes two metro wins in Adelaide and a fifth placing behind Blue Diamond runner up Flying Artie in the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield.
We wish all connections the very best of luck in Monday’s Magic Millions Adelaide 2YO Classic.
The forthcoming Adelaide Yearling Sale is a significant source of future stars of the Magic Millions Race Series. Deiheros and Mahuta, the winners of the last two editions of the Magic Millions Gold Coast 3YO Guineas were graduates of the Adelaide Yearling Sale as well as the winner of the $1m Magic Millions Sprint, Husson Eagle.
