A key feature of the upcoming Jeep Magic Millions Raceday is our ongoing commitment to promoting and growing female participation in the thoroughbred industry through the Magic Millions Racing Women initiative.

This huge incentive has been extraordinarily successful since its launch in 2012 in bringing the significant role women play in our industry to the forefront and counts Olympic medallist Zara Phillips MBE as its patron.

The $500,000 Magic Millions Racing Women’s Bonus will be on offer for the fourth time on Saturday 9 January. The Bonus is distributed to the first four horses past the post in the $2m Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic which are 100% owned or leased by women.

Since its inception the Magic Millions Racing Women’s initiative has generated the registration of 437 two-year-olds raced by females with the aim of competing in the renowned Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic. Notably the number of registrations received for the Bonus in 2016 is the highest number in its four year history with 126 two-year-olds owned or leased by women from five states of Australia as well as Europe, Asia and the USA.

The continued momentum of this ground-breaking incentive is evident as we move closer to the much anticipated next renewal of the Jeep Magic Millions 2YO Classic on 9 January. Recent winner of the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes, Zelady’s Night Out, is the current leading prizemoney earner registered for the 2016 Magic Millions Racing Women’s Bonus and is owned by Sylvana Surace.

Last weekend’s racing saw two Racing Women registered two-year-olds move up the prizemoney ladder. Snitzel filly The Seductress, trained by Jason Warren, won her maiden at Bendigo last Sunday plus Liam Birchley’s Heart Skipt A Beat, added to her earnings by running second at Doomben on Saturday.
