Karuta Queen’s half brother proved popular during today’s third session of the 2011 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale at Belmont.
The colt, by Glenlogan Park based sire Show a Heart, was offered by Durham Lodge and purchased by leading Melbourne based bloodstock agent Damon Gabbedy.
The final price of $230,000 was exactly $200,000 more than his year older and unbeaten juvenile half sister Karuta Queen.
“He’s a really flashy individual who has a lot going for him,” Gabbedy said after signing for the colt for Eastern States based clients.
“He’s a loose, great walking horse with plenty of length and scope – he looks a real natural runner.”
“There’s plenty of presence about him.”
“He’s by a very underrated sire – one who can get a great colt like he has with Toorak Toff,” Gabbedy added.
“He will almost certainly be trained in the Eastern States.”
Karuta Queen, the colt’s half sister, is regarded by most as Australia’s best juvenile on exposed form with four wins from as many starts and earnings of over $1.4 million.
Both tonight’s $230,000 Show a Heart colt and Karuta Queen are from the group winning juvenile Card Queen.
A daughter of Final Card, Card Queen was purchased by the Durham Lodge team carrying the Show a Heart colt for $55,000 at the 2009 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale at the Gold Coast.
The third session of the sale continues.
