One of the region’s best and most versatile gallopers Dao Dao will be a drawcard lot at the Magic Millions National Racehorse Sale on June 8.
The lightly raced six-year-old will go under the hammer at the sale and provide buyers with a unique opportunity to purchase one of the most talented horses to have raced in Australia and Hong Kong.
An earner of over A$1.12 million, Dao Dao boasts an imposing race record of seven wins and eight placings from just 19 starts.
He kicked away his career in Australia and notched two wins and a second from three Sydney runs prior to being sent to Hong Kong.
In Hong Kong, Dao Dao proved himself a star where he’s been a multiple Class One winner and went within a head of a famous victory in the Champions Mile last year.
In that HK$12 million race Dao Dao beat star Hong Kong galloper Dao Dao when he ran third to Sight Winner and Egyptian Ra.
In Australia during 2010 Dao Dao was second in the Expressway Stakes (beaten a long head by Rangirangdoo), second in a Futurity Stakes (to Typhoon Tracy), third in a Blamey Stakes and second in a George Ryder Stakes.
The son of Shinko Forest raced most recently in the 2010 edition of the Champions Mile and nothing went to plan with him finishing out of a place in a quality field.
A winner of three races at 1400 metres and four at a mile, Dao Dao has won first up and second up and won on good, dead and heavy tracks.
Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester is currently in Hong Kong and met with the owner taking the entry for the high class performer in person.
“Dao Dao would be a drawcard at any auction anywhere in the world – he has form around the best horses in the region’s he has raced – always racing at the top level.”
“He’s the type of horse who would be invited to any of the international races in Dubai, Hong Kong, England and Singapore,” Chester said.
“He’s very lightly raced and is a sound, tough horse and will be sold with a full set of x-rays. He’s a lovely type of horse.”
“He’s been owned in Hong Kong and has raced with great success there as well as in Australia. But the owner has decided to put him up for sale.”
“Arguably he’s one of the best racehorses ever to be sold at auction in Australia. He’s proven at the highest level internationally and still has a bright future on the track.”
The 2010 Magic Millions National Racehorse Sale will be held following the final session of the National Yearling Sale on Tuesday, June 8.
Entries for the National Racehorse Sale will close at noon on Monday (May 17).
The National Sale commences on May 26 with the first session of weanlings to go under the hammer.
