Frenetica Continues Ferocity’s Hot Run

FRENETICA CONTINUES FEROCITY’S HOT RUN

Top Flemington trainer Danny O’Brien unearthed a likely type for his hometrack Cup week at Ballarat today when Frenetica cruised to victory.

A daughter of the stable’s former outstanding youngster Ferocity, Frenetica sat behind the leaders before coming with a sharp sprint over the concluding stages to win in great style.

Top Group One jockey Dwayne Dunn couldn’t help but be impressed with the performance of the lightly raced but highly promising grey.

“She put the writing on the wall the other day. She got beaten a little way, but she was the only one making ground on that winner and obviously it has gone on to win again.”

“It was a tough win today.”

Dunn said not everything went to plan during today’s race – when his mount was forced to overcome a tight run to get clear at a critical stage of the race.

“I didn’t want to go to the rail – I wanted to hold off, but the horse on my outside pushed me in where I probably didn’t want to be.”

“She’s done a good job. When the run’s come it was only three quarters there and she pushed her way through beautifully.”

Frenetica was facing the starter for just the third time and looks a promising filly for the future. She was purchased from the draft of Oaklands Stud at last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale for $80,000.

She is one of two winners, from two to race, for the unraced Jade Robbery mare All Legs – a half sister to stakes winner Given and the stakes placed pair of Simplest and Amazing One.

All Legs’ dam, the twice Melbourne winner Mad Desire, is a three quarter sister to former top galloper With Me – the dam of Accomplice.

The win of Frenetic continues a good couple of weeks for Ferocity.

In Brisbane recently his two-year-old daughters Flammable and Crazy Mamma ran first and second in that city’s first race for juvenile fillies for the season.

And yesterday at Eagle Farm his promising three-year-old filly African Mama scored a strong finishing win.

A full sister to Frenetica is being prepared by the team from Oaklands Stud for January’s 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

“She’s a lovely athletic filly,” Magic Millions Bloodstock Consultant Barry Bowditch said. “She’s typical of the nice Ferocity youngsters.”

“He (Ferocity) has made a great start to the season and Frenetica’s sister is an attractive youngster who will appeal to buyers.”
