Ain’tnofallenstar’s excellent run in Adelaide stakes races continued this afternoon when she produced a stunning burst in the home straight to win the listed Laelia Stakes (1600m) at Morphettville.
The win was the third in Adelaide for the daughter of Starcraft and importantly her second at black type level.
Her previous big win came when Hall of Fame horseman Lee Freedman snuck her over the border to contest and win the HC Nitschke Stakes.
Ain’tnofallenstar was allowed to find her feet early and was ridden patiently by Ben Melham, who made it an early double after teaming up with Darren Weir to win the Dequetteville Stakes.
Freedman’s long time stable foreman Scott Magee said after the race that he knew the filly would get back but was even a little surprised how far back.
“We told him that you have to ride this filly quiet – that is the way she seems to appreciate to race,” Magee noted.
“I thought he’d taken it a bit to the extreme, but he knows the horse and she runs well for him and she’s done the job.”
“Her form is really good. She is an honest filly – she tries her heart out and we’re glad to get a nice win out of her.”
Ain’tnofallenstar ($4.80 eq fav) finished so quickly that by the time the finish was reached she held a widening length and a quarter margin over Jalsah ($15).
Well bred filly Fashion ($7), the mount of Darren Gauci, was a breath behind the runner-up in third place.
The multiple stakes winning filly was purchased for $270,000 by Badgers Bloodstock from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
A daughter of former globetrotting sensation Starcraft, Ain’tnofallenstar is a daughter of the former top Canberra trained mare Ain’t Seen Nothin’.
Prepared during her career by Barb Joseph, Ain’t Seen Nothin’ won eight races and earned over $600,000 during a classy career.
She won three times at listed level and was placed in a further five group races including a third in the Group One Underwood Stakes at Caulfield.
Her two named foals to race are both winners – the other is the three time victor Hidden Charges.
The family further back includes Golden Slipper winner Polar Success and Oaks winner and grand producer Circles of Gold.
