The top seller, catalogued as Lot 216, was presented at the auction by Glenelg Park and was purchased for $160,000 by John McArdle’s Redgum Racing stable.

The bay colt is the second foal of Mr Chard’s full sister Miss Chard, an unraced Al Samer mare whose first foal is this season’s exciting youngster Lessyd.

“He’s very much like Beau Rada actually, a fast horse we have at home,” McArdle said. “We were pretty keen to buy him.”

“He’s a good athletic, strong, running style colt and having Beau Rada and Power Trip by the same sire at home this bloke was another nice horse to take home.”

“There’s his good female family as well – his half brother has done the job as a two-year-old so we’ll take this bloke home, break him in and see how we go,” McArdle added.

The Hard Spun colt just edged out Lot 207, the All Too Hard half brother to triple Group One winner and former Adelaide Sale graduate Happy Trails who sold for $150,000.

That colt, presented by Mill Park as agent, was purchased by Rosehill based trainer Gary Moore for Chinese clients. He described the purchase as “exceptional value.”

“I’m very grateful to Amy and her father from China, they really liked the horse,” Moore said.

“I thought he was a beautifully balanced colt and I’m sure he’s going to do very well for the stable back in Sydney.”

The Hard Spun and All Too Hard colts from today, along with Monday night’s $230,000 Sebring-Aussie Crawl sale topping filly were among 20 lots to sell for $100,000 or more at the sale – a new record.

Over the past two days at Morphettville over $10.2 million was traded on 237 yearlings at an average price of $43,737. The clearance rate rose again and is currently on 84.4 per cent.

“It’s just been a really good result for a lot of people,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said. “The average is up 33 per cent and the turnover is up 54 per cent.”

“The thing that was so positive was the depth of the market and the consistency of the market.”

“A lot of people had some very, very exciting results and it’s tremendously rewarding from a Magic Millions point of view to see such emotion running around the sale ring.”

“It’s not about now and today and how well we’ve done. It’s about what we can do with this sale and where we can take it and I think that is the exciting thing.”

“It’s probably the best venue in Australia to sell horses – it’s nice and tight – it’s a great complex and Adelaide is a great place to have a sale – everyone has a lot of fun over here – we can really built on this and take it somewhere,” Cox added.
