Magic Millions graduates dominated today’s Vale John Bradshaw Handicap (1200m) at Randwick with the first three horses over the line eligible for next Saturday’s $2 million BMW Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
Fast and Sexy led home Snippets of Glory and Combat Kitty in a competitive race for two-year-olds.
Chris Waller, who trains the winner Fast and Sexy, said his promising youngster was likely to bypass Queensland’s richest race – while the trainers of minor placegetters would wait and see how their juveniles pulled up before ruling the race in or out.
A daughter of in form Coolmore Stud sire Fastnet Rock, Fast and Sexy was purchased in the Ingham Racing team for $170,000 from last year’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
The filly is a graduate of Orange Grove Thoroughbreds – who had eight yearlings catalogued for this week’s Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
“It was a good win,” Waller said of Fast and Sexy. “It is great to get a two-year-old winner for the Inghams.”
“I think the filly has a future,” he added. “She’s a Magic Millions filly but I don’t think she will be going there unless I get a phone call.”
“I think she is an autumn filly and we will look after her now. I don’t think it would be right to back her up next week but once again, if the family want her there she will be there.”
David Payne, trainer of the runner-up Snippets of Glory, said his runner could be a Classic starter next week.
“It’s a $2 million race so of course we’ll look at it,” he told AAP. “If he pulls up well and looks as if he will get a run then we’ll probably go.”
And Matthew Smith who trains the third placegetter Combat Kitty said a trip north was still a strong chance.
“We’ll see how she is, she’d have to pull up 100 per cent to consider taking her,” he told AAP.
“But if it looks like she will get a run then we will probably take her up there on Tuesday night.”
“She went well today after missing the race last week and the slow pace didn’t suit her,” Smith summed up.
The winner Fast and Sexy is one of two winners produced by the Melbourne winning Lure mare She’s Alluring.
She’s Alluring is a daughter of the stakes performed Fayfa – the dam of black type gallopers Hillfa, Love Jeddah and Impulsive Dream.
The latest yearling from Fayfa – a lovely bay colt by Encosta de Lago is a member of the Coolmore Stud draft at the upcoming Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
