Due to a business partnership split selling agent Magic Millions will offer an unreserved dispersal sale of Durham Lodge’s horses at the Brigadoon State Equestrian Centre on Sunday 26th June.
The Durham Lodge business will continue as normal after the sale from their Muchea and Gingin properties. Durham Lodge stallions in Blackfriars, Universal Ruler and Hurricane Sky have all been retained in a pre-sale agreement. All key staff have been retained to continue running the business including General Manager Jeremy Smith and Stud Manager Mark Wilkins
The sale will comprise of approximately 135 lots which will be made up of broodmares, yearlings, racehorses and weanlings.
The offering will include about 40 weanlings which would have been Durham Lodge’s 2012 Yearling Draft, a group of yearlings specifically retained by Durham Lodge to race plus a batch of some very promising and proven racehorses. A very strong 60 plus band of broodmares will complete a vast array of bloodstock that should appeal to a wide spectrum of buyers.
The securing of Blackfriars by Durham Lodge, who is one of the hottest stallions in Australia, was crucial plus it was extremely important for the WA breeding industry as a whole that he was not lost to the Eastern States.
As part of the re-structure of Durham Lodge our proven Group 1 winning sire and producer Hurricane Sky will stand at Quanah Park Thoroughbreds for this season but will remain 100% owned by Durham.
It is expected the catalogue will be available from Magic Millions towards the last week of May. More details of the draft will be released next week.
