Winx – then lot 329 by Street Cry out of Vegas Showgirl, was purchased from the Gold Coast sales ring in 2013 for $230,000. Now a winner of 14 Group One races approaching $14 million in prizemoney, a remarkable racing journey that began at Magic Millions continues.
Yes, Winx is a phenomenon and a freak, but she is also the epitome of the dream that brings us all together to celebrate and be in awe of the thoroughbred. A dream that an investor at any level can legitimately have.
Winx was just one of Magic Millions’ 112 individual stakes winners of 165 stakes races in Australia for the 2016-17 racing season. The 2018 renewal of the Gold Coast Yearling Sale is your chance to start writing your own racing story.
The sale itself is just one aspect of Australia’s most exciting sales and racing event, which commences with the Pacific Fair Magic Millions Polo on Sunday 7 January. Held for the first time in 2017 we are proud to include this new polo event on our annual Carnival calendar. This January’s match will feature one of the world’s most famous polo players, Argentinian Nacho Figueras, alongside other leading Australian and international players including Rob Archibald and the Patron of Magic Millions Racing Women, Zara Phillips MBE.
Saturday 13 January sees the third running of the $10 million Magic Millions Raceday at the Gold Coast Turf Club. With seven of nine races worth $1 million or more in prizemoney highlighted by the $2 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic and $2 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, the Raceday will showcase Australian racing’s top horses, trainers and jockeys.
