Beyonce’s Star bowed out of racing in style with a victory in driving rain in today’s listed Just Now Quality (1300m) at Eagle Farm.
A member of the Bryan Guy stable, Beyonce’s Star kicked strongly in the straight to hold out Irish Dream and win by a long neck.
The win was a timely and valuable one for the Nolan family of Raheen Stud who purchased the six-year-old mare at June’s Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
The mare was knocked down to leading Sydney based bloodstock agent Vin Cox who acted for the Nolans. She cost $40,000.
Since her purchase the mare has won almost $140,000 and importantly today registered a first time stakes success.
All up the consistent mare has five wins and 22 minor placings from 43 runs and earned $296,910.
The mare retires to the breeding barn in the best possible way with the stakes win. She is in foal to Toorak Toff’s sire, the Glenlogan Park based star Show a Heart.
Beyonce’s Star is one of five winners from the former top class and well related Pompeii Court mare Concert Star.
Concert Star won 11 races at sprint trips and is a half sister to the Melbourne stakes winner Solo Show – the dam of former classy group winner Toast of the Coast.
It is also the family of stakes winners including Rock Show, Solo Performance, Clout and Suzanne.
Beyonce’s Star is the 20th individual stakes winner for her sire, Mt. Livermore’s Group One winning son Orientate- but just his second in Australia.
His other Aussie stakes winner is Marveen – while he also produced the Group One placegetter Sashenka.
