A $210,000 purchase out of the Eureka Stud draft at the 2017 Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Outback Barbie has now won four races and more than $1.3 million in prizemoney during her 19-start career. Gollan said he was thrilled to see the Stakes winner break through on one of racing’s biggest stages. “It was her third go here on Magic Millions day, she ran third in the Classic a couple of years ago and then third here again last year (in the Guineas),” Gollan said. “She just keeps trying so hard.” “This is for great supporters of the stables, Mr and Mrs Acton, they stump up every year and buy me a nice horse and they’ve got themselves a bonny little mare.” “She was coming off a below par run at Eagle Farm but I knew I had her spot on today and I’m so thrilled she won.” The win gave jockey James McDonald a winning double after his earlier success aboard Madam Rouge in the Magic Millions Snippets. |
