Cavallo Pazzo notched an interstate two state stakes double for graduates of the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling when he scored a brilliant win in the Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Belmont in Perth on Saturday.

The accomplished sprinter followed in the hoofsteps of star South Aussie sprinter Happy Trails who rattled home to win the Group Three Spring Stakes at Morphettville.

Both were purchased from the 2009 Adelaide Yearling Sale – Happy Trails for $11,000 and Cavallo Pazzo for $22,000.

Cavallo Pazzo, who ran second to Barakey four runs back and was third to Luckgray last run, finished powerfully under Kyra Yuill to win by a widening length and a quarter margin.

Trainer Ted Martinovich was not surprisingly all smiles after the impressive win of the son of Not a Single Doubt.

“He’s been a good horse to us and to win a race like this is a real good thrill for sure,” Martinovich said.

“Every time he’s had a bit of a break and come back he’s improved a bit and that is what they have to do to get to this level.”

A tilt at a feature race over the upcoming Kalgoorlie Cup Carnival could be on the cards for the classy gelding.

“He’ll probably have a couple of more runs first and then we’ll assess it from there and see,” Martinovich added.

A seven time winner and 11 time placegetter from just 25 starts, Cavallo Pazzo has earned his connections an ever increasing prizemoney haul of $339,225.

The good looking bay gelding is one of five winners for the 100 per cent winner producer Annuity and was bred by the late Bill Duthy in the Adelaide Hills.

A Brisbane winner of four by Euclase, Annuity is a half sister to the ill fated Group One winner Aragen.

Cavallo Pazzo’s three quarter sister Get Up Stand Up has also won this season – successful at Balaklava under boom apprentice Jamie Lee Kah on August 1.

Perth’s latest stakes winning sprinter is the 10th individual stakes winner for former outstanding Magic Millions graduate Not a Single Doubt.
