The Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, regarded by many as Australia’s best value thoroughbred auction, is fast approaching.
A quality catalogue of 393 yearlings will go under the hammer during two action packed days of selling on March 15 and 16.
It will be a big few days in the South Australian capital with the state’s most famous race, the Adelaide Cup, being run at Morphettville on the day before the sale, March 14.
The Adelaide Yearling Sale, which last year boasted an average price of $26,792, has produced many outstanding gallopers over the years.
Divine Madonna, Mummify, Undoubtedly, Devil Moon, Blevvo, Young Centaur, Spin Around, Hard to Get and Casino Prince are all winners at racing’s elite level and all graduates of the Morphettville Sales Complex.
“There wouldn’t be a sale anywhere across Australasia with such a record for producing good winners at value prices,” Magic Millions Acting Managing Director David Chester reported.
“I know buyers from the sale in recent years will all be back – delighted with their purchases and knowing the exceptional value they got.”
Other group winners to graduate from the sale in recent times include Catapulted, Moment in Time, Oneninetyfive, McClintock, Gabbidon, Augusta Proud, Dr Doute’s and Silent Surround.
Recent $1 million Magic Millions 3YO Trophy winners Tempest Tost and Torio’s Quest were both purchased by connections from the Adelaide Yearling Sale.
“The two day auction is regarded by many as a great trainer’s sale – with quality, athletic types filling the catalogue,” Chester added.
Among the quality lots in this year’s auction include (at least half) relations to group winners including Above Deck, Ambala, Blevvo, Light of Success, Nevis, Always Flying, El Maze, Oneninetyfive, Rydell High and The Man.
Stakes winning mares with youngsters catalogued include Lycra, Tartan Tights, Moralee, Regal Kiss, Almazyoon, Sardana, After Beune, High Royale, Josalie, Maybe McLaren, Oceano, Pipkin, Sly Sandra, Tape Deck and Umaquest.
Sires well represented in the catalogue include More Than Ready, Bel Esprit, Stratum, Testa Rossa, Snippetson, Host, Written Tycoon, Elusive Quality, Churchill Down and Al Maher.
Locally based sires including Barely a Moment, Blevic, Danbird, Face Value, Mugharreb, Planchet and Real Jester also have strong representation.
