Kieser’s Juveniles Virtually Untouchable

Theo Kieser’s outstanding run with juveniles in Singapore rolled on at Kranji on Sunday when quality youngster Goal Keeper won the latest two-year-old race in great style.

A son of Untouchable, Goal Keeper is the latest young Kieser star purchased by the leading Kranji horseman from the Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale.

The lightly raced gelding was sent out one of the leading chances after his eye catching last start second to stablemate Kaiser on June 19.

“He showed exceptional speed at his second-last start over 1200 metres before he got tired in the end,” Kieser said.

“I wanted him to show the same speed today. As it was a race over 1000 metres, I thought he would have a better chance.”

“I will definitely try him over longer, probably up to a mile. I’m not sure if he can go further than that though.”

“He’s certainly a promising horse and can only improve from here. He had three trials here and though he scored very well at his last one, there is now like real race conditions to gain race experience.”

In Sunday’s race, Goal Keeper (Moreira) raced clear for a length and three quarter win over Magical Sunset (Beasley), while Hurry Harimau (Zaki) was the best of the race, a distant four lengths further back.

Kieser took a shine to the youngster, who was offered by Hilly Red Farm (As Agent) at last October’s Magic Millions National Horses in Training Sale at the Gold Coast.

“I liked his type straightaway. I thought he would fetch more and was quite surprised to gim him for only $44,000.”

The runner-up Magical Sunday, a son of Hussonet and group winning mare Magically, was purchased for $47,000 by Grange Thoroughbred at last year’s National Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast and is trained by Brian Dean.

Goal Keeper, by Danehill’s group performed son Untouchable, is the third winner for his dam – the well related Kampala mare My Cousin Rachel.

A winner at 1300 metres, My Cousins Rachel is a half sister to Duchy of Cornwall – the British winning grand producing mare.

Duchy of Cornwall is the dam of the stakes winners – Newquay (Johnson in Macau), Civil List and Lands End (Gibson in Macau). She is also the dam of the group placed Tregurrian – dam of kiwi stakes winner Minstrel Court.

My Cousin Rachel, the dam of Goal Keeper, is also a half sister to Tiara Lady – the winning grandam of former outstanding race filly and multiple Group One winner Gold Edition (over $3 million in earnings).
