More Group Success For Hold It Harvey

Quality kiwi galloper Hold it Harvey made it back to back feature wins in the Group Three White Robe Stakes (1600m) when he powered home to win at Wingatui today.

From three runs in the feature mile event Hold it Harvey has two wins and a second placing.

After being allowed to get back in the field, Hold it Harvey came with a barnstorming run in the straight to hit the front and hold out his rivals for a strong victory.

The six-year-old has been one of New Zealand’s most consistent middle distance performers for some time and today he sent his earnings to over $450,000.

Winning rider Jamie Bullard was impressed with the sprint in the straight from the King Cugat gelding and also how he fought off the challenges from his rivals late in the event.

“When we hit the front I thought we were going to go away with it but I had a bit of a fight from my inside there but he fought to the line really well to his credit.”

“He hasn’t had much luck in the bigger races and back to this race against this type of horse he’s superior.”

The gelding has been a remarkable money spinner for connections after his purchase for $16,000 at the 2006 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.

He was picked out and purchased at the sale by trainer Terri Rae from the draft of Baramul Stud.

The gelding is one of two winners, from two to race, for the twice raced Best Western mare Daly Charm.

A grandaughter of Prix Morny winner Princesse Lida, Daly Charm is a half sister to the stakes placed, nine time winner Chanted.

A half brother to Hold it Harvey, by renowned juvenile sire More Than Ready, was purchased by Gerald Ryan for $235,000 at the recent Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
