Ready to Rip confirmed his status as one of Queensland’s most progressive galloper when he flew home to win the $100,000 skyracing.tv Magic Millions Class 6 Handicap (1200m) at the Gold Coast today. Trainer Andrew Williamson was impressed with the win and didn’t want to think what could have been after the gelding missed a run in the $1 million Gold Coast Magic Millions Guineas, run earlier in the afternoon. “It’s hard to say what might have happened,” Williamson said. “We got something and that’s the good thing.” Ready to Rip did a big job coming from back in the field – coming from an outside barrier and having no favours during the run. “Damian Browne rides all his work and he would have been on him today if he could have got down to the 53 (kilograms),” he added. “He has a really big wrap on him and Damian doesn’t usually get too excited that often.” “We paid $55,000 for him – he wasn’t a big horse – but he’s really developed into a lovely horse.” The win capped a massive day for star Sydney rider Corey Brown who rounded out the $4.3 million raceday with four winners. Earlier he partnered Gai’s Choice, Temple of Boom and Midnight at Ascot to victory. Ready to Rip was purchased by the Greenup Family for $55,000 from the draft of Baramul Stud at the 2009 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale. He has raced on five occasions and notched three wins and a third placing. He’s already earned over $100,000. A talented three-year-old gelding, Ready to Rip is a half brother to five winners including the stakes placed, five time winner Sir Lago. His dam, the once raced Danehill mare Lady Langham, is a sister to the dam of WA star Elliotto, three quarter sister to the dam of Cask and half sister to Forehand and the dam of Kenconcarne.
