Australia’s favourite thoroughbred auction, the 2011 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, commences as scheduled tomorrow.
Commencing at 11am (Qld time), tomorrow’s first session of the sale will comprise 195 quality yearlings.
Trainers, owners and bloodstock agents from around Australia and from overseas have made it to the Gold Coast and are busily inspecting the stock on offer from Australia’s leading studs and vendors.
“Everything is in readiness for the first session of the sale tomorrow,” Magic Millions Managing Director Stephen Silk reported.
“We’ve escaped most of the wet weather over recent days and the sale will commence as scheduled.”
“The forecast is looking good for the coming days and as the week continues the conditions are expected to improve each day.”
The first session of the sale has a number of star lots to go under the hammer.
A full brother to Stratum, from the draft of Reavill Farm, is catalogued as lot 30 and he’s expected to be one of the most popular lots of the auction.
Stratum was sold at the Gold Coast as a yearling and went on to win a Golden Slipper. Last season he sired the Slipper winner and was crowned the Champion First Season Sire of the country.
Other well bred youngsters in the first session of the sale include (at least) half relations Group One winners to Absolute Champion, Anamato, Bel Esprit, Bel Mer, Calaway Gal, Danni Martine, Redoute’s Dancer, Scenic Peak, Tully Thunder, Universal Prince, Universal Queen and Why Be.
The sale will continue from 11am (Qld time) on Thursday, through Friday and the fourth session of the sale will commence at 6pm following the $4.3 million Magic Millions raceday at the Gold Coast Turf Club.
For those unable to make it to the Bundall sales complex, the sale will be broadcast live over the internet – follow the links from the homepage of the Magic Millions website.
