Former top Oaklands Stud sire Iglesia has topped the list of wins with Magic Millions graduates during the 2009/10 racing season.
The son of Last Tycoon made up for 118 of the 5,213 wins for graduates of Australia’s most winning thoroughbred sales company when the season wrapped up on Saturday.
Highlighted by his group winning son Sanderson, who cost a mere $3,000, Iglesia had more of his Magic Millions graduates win in Australia during the racing season than any other sire.
Some 448 different sires were represented by winners – three topped the century mark.
Sharing second place on the sires leaderboard were General Nediym and Sequalo with 101 victories each.
General Nediym’s stakes winning MM graduates starring during the season included Military Rose and So Anyway.
Sequalo’s highlight performers included stakes winners Bold Glance, Burdekin Blues, Secrets Untold and Spirit of Boom.
Fellow Queenslanders Show a Heart (90) and Falvelon (78) were next.
The reputation of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic as a sire making race continued with previous winners Snippets, Testa Rossa, General Nediym and Bradbury’s Luck all among the winners.
Jet Spur (19) edged out Hidden Dragon (18) for most wins among the first season sires. Stratum was next on 13 ahead of Ferocity (8) and Bradbury’s Luck (7).
Other first season sires with multiple MM graduate winners included Snitzel, Starcraft, Greenwood Lake, Balestrini, Bearcat, Barely a Moment, Snippetson, Seidnazar, Trade Fair, Benicio, Al Samer, Pearl of Love and Break the Vault.
